Job Opportunity | Full-time Session Supervisor / Caseworker
Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade (CALL) is looking for a full-time Session Supervisor / Caseworker to join our lively and supportive team in the centre of the vibrant market town of Leighton Buzzard. Your principal role will be to manage and co-ordinate the activities of our advice sessions effectively, although there will also be the need from time to time to pick up a case load of more vulnerable clients who need more comprehensive support.
You will be reporting to our Advice Services Manager and be expected to supervise and monitor the quality of advice being given by both staff and volunteers. You’ll also work closely with other staff to support the training and development of volunteers and promote our work in the local community.
You must have at least one years experience advising vulnerable clients on issues such as welfare benefits/homelessness/housing or similar. Ideally, and to qualify for the upper range of salary, you must have experience of supervising advisers within Citizens Advice.
However, if you are an experienced adviser there will be the opportunity to train into the role at the lower salary band.
You will need to have a high level of academic ability in order to research complex areas of law and communicate that effectively to advisers. You will also need experience balancing competing priorities in a busy office environment. We are also looking for people who have a compassionate and patient attitude and willingness to adopt the aims and principles of Citizens Advice in general and CALL in particular. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use a range of IT systems including a case management system. You will also need accurate case recording skills and the ability to review and
feedback on case records of others to ensure we meet the high standards of our Advice Quality Accreditation.
