Chief Officer
Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade, Chief Officer
Weekly Hours and Annual Salary: 31 hours, £26 328 per annum
Citizens Advice Leighton Linslade (CALL) is looking to recruit a Chief Officer. The vacancy will arise on the retirement of the current post holder this year.
Passionate about making a difference, you will lead the services of Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade (‘CALL’) to ensure we deliver excellent advice services that meet the needs of our community in Leighton Buzzard, Linslade and surrounding villages.
CALL has been giving quality advice and information to local people for over 40 years. In the last year we helped over 3,500 people to resolve over 9,000 issues. We are proud of our standing in the local community and wish to maintain good relationships built on trust and respect. CALL’s annual income is approximately £100,000 of which about 80% is derived from local councils.
As Chief Officer you will be responsible for leading and managing a highly motivated team of 6 paid staff and an average of 45 trained volunteers, to provide the best possible outcomes for our clients. You will work with and be accountable to an engaged and supportive Trustee Board. In addition to the weekly hours, there is an expectation to attend evening quarterly Trustee Board meetings and AGM as well as some evening local council meetings.
You will be responsible for service development and income generation. You will be able to demonstrate flair and a strong track record in these areas. You will have the confidence and credibility to build relationships with a broad range of partners and stakeholders across the voluntary, public and private sectors. You will possess excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
Within the team you will develop a good working relationship with the Advice Services Manager, provide support and training to the team of staff and volunteers and fulfil the responsibilities of advisor and advice session supervisor.
Externally, the role will require you to promote and represent CALL by working actively and constructively with external partners and local agencies. It will be important to maintain and develop our existing excellent relationships with core funders as well as to identify and explore new sources of funding and resources. You will also need to maintain and develop the current links we enjoy with local businesses and companies and continue the tradition of valuable co-operation with other social, health and voluntary services.
